Organic ingredients:
baby spring mix, three cheese blend, crunchy toasts, sweet wild blueberries & cranberries with a sweet & tangy balsamic dressing
I thought I'd do a few product reviews on my journal. I ran to the grocery store (Safeway, even though I don't usually shop there). They've added some organic products. I grew up shopping at health food stores and I like to do it when I can. I'm not exactly fanatical about it, but I do it more often than not. One nice thing I noticed at Safeway is they are carrying these products:

which are a line of organic greens and ready-to-eat salad-kits packaged in recyclable, compostable corn-based containers, instead of the chemical-leeching (questionable) plastic packages. I'm trying to phase out on plastic at least somewhat--the stuff that comes in contact with my food. I'm not necessarily going to be too intense about it but I'll avoid it when I can. It's a shame because plastic is so readily available and a lot of restaurants give away free plastic kid's cups (with lids) that I have been collecting. I am thinking that when I get enough money to do so (whenever that is) I'll toss all the plastic cups out and get plastic-free ones for Pele. I dunno. We'll see. It's sort of a morbid joke but it does seem like EVERYTHING eventually shows up as causing cancer. It's insane...
Anyway. The greens in question were quite yummy (which is important) and fresh-tasting. A good variety of greens. The only problem is (if you're watching your dairy/wheat intake) this particular kit I tried had croutons (wheat) and cheese (dairy) along with a package of balsamic and some dried cranberries/blueberries. Anyway, it was a huge container, and I ate it all. I'll try their other types of greens next time I go shopping.
I plan on using the container as a swell cheapo carrying case for my acrylic paints. I don't have anything fancier at the moment and I like that I can also use it as a palette if I need to.
I think I'll give it 4 stars.
